My panel Society, Psychology, and Video Games has been accepted to RTX 2015 and will be at the Hilton (500 E. 4th St., room 400) at 10AM on Saturday, August 8th. I’ll be sharing what I’ve learned about the current perception of video games and tech through my research into the history of psychological and sociological pressure applied to recreation.
To understand why there’s been such a strong backlash against video games, you need to go back at least to the late 1800s. To understand why there’s been such a strong backlash about technological advancement, you need to go back a lot farther than that.
For those who aren’t familiar, RTX is a small (but growing) convention in Austin, Texas hosted by Rooster Teeth Productions. It’s a fantastic collision of game, internet culture, and fandom.
If you live in the Austin area, I’d love you to stop by!
